Flometrica is a medtech startup revolutionizing urology diagnostics with a unique digital health device — a smart, disposable urine flow measurement cup. This innovative solution empowers patients to perform accurate diagnostic tests at home, eliminating the need for lab visits and long wait times for results. Instead of waiting weeks for lab results, patients can now get their measurements at home and send results instantly to their physician.

Flometrica approached moblers to help bring this product online by developing a seamless cloud-connected system. The moblers team was tasked with creating a Wi-Fi communication module that integrates with the measurement cup and transmits diagnostic data securely to the cloud. This system was intended to feed into a medical backend platform where healthcare providers could view and respond to patient data in real-time.

The development of Flometrica’s platform posed several technical challenges:

Hardware-to-Cloud Integration: Designing a Wi-Fi component compatible with a disposable diagnostic device while ensuring secure and stable cloud communication.

Patient Privacy & Data Security: Ensuring end-to-end encryption and GDPR-compliant data flows between device and medical interface.

Medical Backend Requirements: Planning a streamlined backend where physicians can access, monitor, and provide feedback based on incoming diagnostic data.

Though the full platform wasn’t launched commercially, moblers successfully delivered a proof of concept for a working IoT module and laid the groundwork for cloud and backend architecture. Key contributions included:

Wi-Fi Integration for Home Diagnostics: Built a lightweight, reliable Wi-Fi communication component for a disposable device.

Cloud-Ready Architecture: Developed cloud endpoints and data pipelines for real-time diagnostic uploads.

Medical Backend Design: Outlined a responsive system for physicians to receive and analyze patient-submitted test results.
